This is OT but I think relates to Supergirl tangentially. With Superman & Lois retconned as being on a different earth like Stargirl and the upcoming Gotham Knights rumored to be set on the S &L Earth. The shows that we consider as the Arrowverse because they are on Earth Prime or connected before that(Arrow,The Flash,Supergirl,DC Legends Of Tomorrow,Black Lightning and Batwoman) have reached its end with the news today that The Flash, the longest running Arrowverse series, will conclude with a 13 episode 9th and final season.

The Flash to end after season 9
"Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race," showrunner Eric Wallace says.

The upcoming ninth season will be the last for the CW's superhero drama starring Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster, EW has learned. The final season will also be shortened, consisting of only 13 episodes.
"Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor, and spectacle," showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement. "And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. So many amazing people have given their talents, time, and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So, as we get ready to honor the show's incredible legacy with our exciting final chapter, I want to say thank you to our phenomenal cast, writers, producers, and crew over the years who helped make The Flash such an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world."
When Wallace recently spoke with EW about the season 8 finale, he said that while he hoped season 9 wouldn't be the final run of episodes — "because there's still many more Flash stories to tell" — he was still preparing for that to be the case. "I don't want the audience to get caught with a cliffhanger that doesn't get resolved or anything like that," he said. "I want to make sure that we complete the journey that Barry, Iris, and Team Flash have been on."
At that time, Wallace was still "trying to figure out" how he wanted to ultimately end the series. "I know what the plot endgame of next year is. That's not a problem," he said. "Ironically, it's set up very succinctly in the season finale for this year. However, where all the characters end up emotionally, that's still in flux ... In between seasons 8 and 9, I'm going to get a bit more of a chance to get a little bit of a breather to think about where do I really want to send these characters off emotionally as people and as human beings? What do I want their final goodbyes to this wonderful, loyal audience to be? That's what my summer homework is."
The Flash season 9 begins filming next month and is currently slated to air in 2023.

‘The Flash’ to End With Abbreviated Season 9 on The CW
The Grant Gustin-led DC Comics series will return in 2023 with 13 episodes.
BY LESLEY GOLDBERG
AUGUST 1, 2022
It’s official: The Flash’s upcoming ninth season will be its last.
The CW on Monday announced that its Grant Gustin-led DC Comics superhero drama from Warner Bros. TV and Greg Berlanti Productions will conclude with a 13-episode final run. The conclusion of one of the network’s most-watched shows will air in 2023 as part of its midseason roster. Production on the final season will begin next month.
“Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor and spectacle. And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race,” executive producer/showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement Monday. “So many amazing people have given their talents, time and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So, as we get ready to honor the show’s incredible legacy with our exciting final chapter, I want to say thank you to our phenomenal cast, writers, producers and crew over the years who helped make The Flash such an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world.”
News that The Flash is coming to its end has been wildly speculated since before the ninth season was officially announced as part of The CW’s early renewals in March. The series was poised to end with season eight but both the network and studio were able to ink leading man Gustin and co-stars including Candice Patton to new deals. That paved the way for a ninth season and Wallace and company to rework last season’s ending, which was initially scripted as a final season as rumors about the show’s conclusion had circulated for much of the past year.
Season eight finished its run as one of The CW’s most-watched shows of the past 2021-22 broadcast cycle, averaging north of 1 million viewers and ranking among its most-streamed series on digital platforms.
The Flash was among The CW’s early ventures into DC Comics properties under exec producer Berlanti. The shared universe helped redefine The CW and bring in male viewers to what previously had been a female-leaning network. Remaining DC properties set to join The Flash on The CW’s 2022-23 schedule include Superman & Lois (season three) and rookie Gotham Knights. The latter will join The Flash in 2023.
With the formal finale set for The Flash, the series joins fellow Warner Bros. TV-produced drama Riverdale as series ending in the 2022-23 season. The conclusion of both shows comes amid The CW’s reduced volume of scripted originals as the younger-skewing network is on the sale block with station group Nexstar near a deal to buy it from owners Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios.
After cancelling more shows than it renewed/ordered for the first time in more than a decade, The CW’s scripted roster also includes All American and its spinoff, Kung Fu, Nancy Drew, Superman & Lois, Walker and rookies Gotham Knights, Walker: Independence and Supernatural prequel The Winchesters.

The Flash Will End With Short Season 9
By Matt Webb Mitovich / August 1 2022,
The fastest man alive will come to a stop in 2023.
The CW announced on Monday that The Flash will end with its upcoming ninth season, which will have a truncated 13-episode run.
“Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor and spectacle,” executive producer Eric Wallace said in a statement. “And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. So many amazing people have given their talents, time and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So, as we get ready to honor the show’s incredible legacy with our exciting final chapter, I want to say thank you to our phenomenal cast, writers, producers and crew over the years who helped make The Flash such an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world.”
The Flash this past season averaged just north of 1 million total viewers along with a 0.3 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 32 and 40 percent from its Season 7 run. Out of the 19 dramas that The CW aired last TV season, it ranked No. 4 in total audience and tied Superman & Lois for second in the demo (behind All American).
TVLine readers gave Season 8 an average grade of “B-.”
Heading into Season 9, Grant Gustin, Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker will be the lone remaining original cast members, with Jesse L. Martin stepping down as a series regular to headline an NBC pilot. With Gustin’s inking of a new deal, back in January, to continue as Barry/the scarlet speedster, the longest-running Arrowverse series scored its Season 9 pickup.
But in multiple recent TVLine interviews with cast members and guest stars, it was clear that The Flash’s eighth season — which wrapped on June 29 — was at one point very much intended to be its final lap, to a degree that the renewal came as a surprise to some.
“I will say that I was very surprised to see that there was another season [ordered],” Panabaker told us in May. “Emotionally, I, at least, was planning for Season 8 to be our last. But I’m grateful to the show and to the fans, and hopefully there’s more story to be told.”
Similarly, Robbie Amell said of his midseason return as Deathstorm/Not!Ronnie, “Essentially how it was pitched to me was, ‘This is the final season and we’d love to have you back.’” But the plan for the series ultimately changed, and Wallace later detailed for TVLine how the June finale was rewritten to serve as only a season ender, instead of a series finale.
Production on The Flash‘s final season will begin in September.
This may be dumb.In a way,I’m thankful much like with Supergirl. With Batwoman and Legends being canceled and ending on cliffhangers or setups we’ll never see resolved. The Flash, gets to join Arrow,Supergirl and Black Lightning and actually announce the news that the show is ending before shooting begins..It would be great if we got a full final season like Supergirl(which had 20 episodes) but 13 episodes is in line with the Arrowverse shows that ended. Both Arrow and Black Lightning had shorter final seasons.
I’m just thankful that The Flash has a final season that can serve as a celebration of the series like Arrow,Supergirl and Black Lightning got and Batwoman and Legends didn’t.
I'm going to throw this out there.Yes,now that we know The Flash is ending and is the last "Arrowverse" series since Superman & Lois features a different Superman on another Earth(and future shows may be tied to that series). My dream would be to have Melissa return as Supergirl or even as just Kara for a final meet up/team up with Barry before The Flash ends its run next spring. With the Arrowverse itself(as we knew it anyway) basically coming to a end with the final season of The Flash, it would be superb if we could see The Flash & Supergirl interact one final time.
I realize it's unlikely.
1)The Flash Season 9 will only have 13 episodes.
2)The Flash season 9 is scheduled to shoot from 9/14/22 to 3/6/23.This may conflict with Melissa shooting ‘The Girls On The Bus’ which is also shooting this fall.
So I'm not getting my hopes up but man,can I wish for Melissa to do an episode of The Flash's final season.
